Q&A with Cher Webb: Part 1

Hello my beauts! I’ve loved seeing your questions coming through. I receive messages each day which are most often related to beauty, to my career and much more and I thought this was the perfect way to share a little bit more about me. We have received so many and will be doing this in two parts. I hope you enjoy this Q&A and stay tuned for round two. 🫶♥️

How did you begin your career? And how did you progress to where you are now?

My love of make-up started from my dancing days where I trained and competed across the UK and throughout the years loved experimenting and being creative with make-up! Having free reign to apply full on makeup was so creative and fun! After years of travelling and living in Spain and Portugal I settled in London and my make-up career all started on the shop floor at MAC. I started of one day a week and worked my way up through different artistic departments before becoming a Senior Artist Ambassador for the brand. I stayed in that role for 10 years and during that, I travelled all over the world and worked on prestigious red carpet events, vip talent and fashion weeks globally. I left 7 years ago and now have a varied role… Creating the Cher Webb brand, presenting Live masterclasses and sharing my knowledge, expertise and experience. My advice if you are looking to work in makeup is to work on a busy counter and you will earn from the many walks of like that come in and you have to be fast!

What was your most recent beauty purchase?

My most recent purchase’s were the new Elf – Glow Reviver Lip Oil in the shades Pink Quartz & Red Delicious, I’ve been wanting to try these for ages, I love the doe foot applicator! I also picked up another lower priced launch which was the Sunkisser Blush by Maybelline. This liquid formula builds such a lovely, natural sun kissed glow which melts into the skin beautifully. These were both under £10 and bought from Boots. Also, back in April for my lovely Ma’s birthday I bought the BYREDO fragrance in her favourite scent Blanche 💖

What products do you buy on repeat?

I am forever buying shower gels, shampoo and brow products on repeat! A shampoo I absolutely adore is Nécessaire – The Shampoo, it cleanses and hydrates the hair and scalp with a beautiful clean and fragrance free formula. It’s infused with Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Panthenol and Aloe Vera leaf juice, leaving the hair strong, hydrated and free from build up. The brow product I buy on repeat is the Anastasia Beverly Hills – Brow Wiz. This is probably my most purchased product, it gives the most precise application, leaving incredibly natural looking brows. I’m also a sucker for the Sanctuary Spa – Body Wash, it’s always a winner and there’s always one of this in my shower. I always love receiving this as an Xmas or birthday gift!

What are your must have products at the moment?

I have MANY! My make-up bag is full of staples that have made it into my everyday routine and ones I couldn’t live without. Firstly let’s start with  the Lisa Eldridge – Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint, I wear in the shade T6 and gives me such a smooth, plumped, healthy glow. Another skin must have would definitely be the Shiseido – Revitalessence Glow Foundation, I wear the shade 260 (Cashmere) and not only does this give me the most flawless, naturally radiant base, but it’s full of skin-loving ingredients that Shiseido are so famous for! I adore it! These are both my most used and favourites from the new launches. I’m also loving the new YSL – LoveShine lipsticks, they have a gorgeous glossy texture that feels cushiony and super hydrating! Shade 44 is my favourite so far, it’s a soft baby pink and perfect for everyday. Clinique – High-Fi Full Volume Mascara, is another product I’ve been using all the time, your lashes will thank you! Next on my must have’s is the ‘Gorgeous Cream Bronzer’  by Trish McEvoy, which has been named perfectly, it’s incredibly pigmented so a little goes a long way and it last’s all day, giving a stunning sun kissed glowy complexion.

Victoria Beckham and her EyeWear Eyeshadow Sticks are always in my make-up bag and a go-to for a quick yet impactful look. The shades I’m loving at the moment are ‘Ballet’ and ‘Shroom’ the newest additions to the easy, creamy collection. I’m also obsessed with her Neutral Instant Brightening Waterline Pencil  it’s a must have if you want bigger and brighter eyes. I’ve first  used this recently on a client and wow I wish I had used it sooner! 😍

One of my all time favourites has and always will be the Shiseido – Eyelash Curler, my desert island must-have! They are award winning for a reason and have been a champion for them forever! They give your mascara a massive head start, make application so much easier and I always use them on non make-up days too! Another one of my hero items has to be the Hourglass – Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Leopard. It’s an all round perfect product, if I already have a base and mascara on, I can use this to complete a full make-up look and I do actually tend to do this on the tube!

For a blush I love the Merit Flushed Balm in the shade Beverly Hills, it gives the best wash of colour and hit of hydration, I’m also a huge fan of the compact design as makes application so easy and the perfect size for your purse. The E.L.F  – Camo Liquid Blush is also a brilliant budget friendly blush that is so lightweight and blends beautifully!

What are your top five fragrances at the moment?

Picking just 5 is such a challenge for me but if I have to, I’ll start with my most recent gift from Christmas (from my mum ❤️) and a scent I was eyeing up (or smelling) for ages is THÉ MATCHA 26 by LeLabo, it’s nothing like I’ve ever experienced before, it’s the most moorish, creamy, soft and uplifting scent. Comète by Chanel is the newest addition to my fave fives, as it was only released last month but my gosh is it stunning, it has a powdery, uplifting and sparking floral allure which is perfect for this time of year. Coming in third is Ganymede by Marc Antoine Barrois, it’s definitely my most worn scent, it’s unisex and is unlike anything else I’ve worn before! I receive the most compliments when I wear this one.

I also love Goddess by Burberry, I spritzed this at the airport on my way to LA last year and throughout the flight I just kept thinking I NEED THIS! So the first thing I did when I landed was rush to purchase it; it’s 100% all of your best summer holiday memories in a bottle and would smell gorgeous on anyone. Last but certainly not least is Victoria Beckham’s Portofino ’97,  this is another recent discovery, it encapsulates a fresh sea breeze through amber, patchouli and vetiver notes and I just love the bright blue & gold bottle which is eye-catching and chic, I could wear this everyday 💙

What is your favourite newest launch?

A brand launch which I’m so so excited about is Joonbyrd which was created by leading dermatologist Dr Alexis Granite. This wellness and lifestyle brand consists of a collection of credibly joyful, luxurious body care products, tools and lifestyle accessories. The brand is so bright and happy and the packaging is incredible. The first launch is all about body heroes and a product I’m loving and using daily is Sunday Sofa, a body butter that has taken over top spot in my routine! It smells incredible and the makes my skin feel so amazing all day and the MoonSwim Body Wash. Joonbryd is a space where the ‘sensorial meets the scientifc and where imagination meets intention’. You know you’re in the best possible hands and it’s just the most gorgeous brand! Plus the products fit so perfectly in my bathroom!

What was your first ever beauty product?

So I was probably allowed to wear fragrance before I was allowed to wear make-up so Impulse and Charlie Red was definitely one of my first beauty related purchases. I asked my mum for a bottle of Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel for Christmas, I think I was 9 and I couldn’t believe it when I actually got it! I can always remember asking mum, and my aunties and her friends if I could look through their makeup bags and if there was anything they didn’t use, hoping they might give it to me haha! I had a lovely little collection of luxurious make-up and even some empty perfume perfume bottles which I just loved as ornaments and many eye-shadows and half used lipsticks, I was just so drawn to the packaging from a really young age. I had an old tool box filled with old hand me down makeup which I nixed to take to mt dancing comps, felt like a pro! 🙂

In my teens I was always in Miss Selfridge and I loved the Body Shop! I think my first make-up purchase would have been Heather Shimmer Lipstick by Rimmel and The Body Shop ‘Beech’ lip liner (which is now discontinued). My mum used this so I started using it as-well and was always secretly using her High Impact Mascara by Clinique, which we both still love!
Thank you so much for reading, I have really enjoyed answering your questions and taking a trip down memory lane! Love you all and remember… LOVE WINS! 🫶
